Support for schools

Research has repeatedly shown that a key feature of effective schools, and a key characteristic of effective school leadership, is the value that they place on collecting and using data to improve student outcomes.  Data collection and reporting is a key factor in school accountability and improvement processes; however, meaningful interpretation of data requires skill and time that may not be available to schools.

Kmetrics provides a range of services to support schools and educational organisations as they engage with the process of collecting and interpreting data, and reporting on student achievement and other school outcomes.

Consultations can include one-on-one sessions with principals and/or leading teachers, but can also be extended to include presentations for teacher groups and school councils.

VCE and AIM Data Services

The analysis of AIM and VCE results can be a daunting process, particularly when principals and teachers are pushed for time, and faced with the day-to-day demands school life. However, analysing and using assessment data from previous years to understand past performance and to plan for the future is a key characteristic of effective schools.

Using the VCE Data Service and the AIM Data Service, Kmetrics offers schools the opportunity to engage with and explore their data with an independent third person who is experienced in delivering:

· an interpretation of results in plain English

· a presentation that engages staff in the results

· a focus on strengths and weaknesses of students

· the identification of curriculum related gaps in student learning

· assistance in planning for improved student outcomes

An example of some research on using the VCE Data Service can be found at:

School climate surveys

Developing an understanding of school climate and what effects it is an important part in improving student outcomes and fostering a healthy work environment.  Kmetrics offers training and assistance in interpreting these results and identifying key elements for improvement.
